Single Mothers & Mental Health is a charity organization dedicated to providing mental health resources to single mothers and their families. We understand the importance of mental well-being and are committed to addressing the unique challenges that single mothers face. We believe that no one should have to struggle alone. That’s why we work hard to provide a supportive and informative online space for single mothers to access the resources they need. Through our online platform, we offer information on a variety of charity organizations designed to help single mothers and others with their mental health needs. 

According to the NHS , evidence suggests there are 5 steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing. Trying these things could help you feel more positive and able to get the most out of life. 

Pay attention to the present moment (mindfulness)

Paying more attention to the present moment can improve your mental wellbeing. This includes your thoughts and feelings, your body and the world around you.Some people call this awareness "mindfulness". Mindfulness can help you enjoy life more and understand yourself better. It can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges.​​

Tips to Improving Your Mental Health

Give to others   

Improve your mental  wellbeing connecting  with other people. It could be small acts of kindness towards other people, or larger ones like volunteering in your local community.

Connect with other people.

Good relationships are important for your mental wellbeing. They can help you to build a sense of belonging and self-worth give you an opportunity to share positive experiences provide emotional support and allow you to support others

Be Physically Active

Being active is not only great for your physical health and fitness. Evidence also shows it can also improve your mental wellbeing by: raising your self-esteem helping you to set goals or challenges and achieve them causing chemical changes in your brain which can help to positively change your mood

Learn New skills

improve your mental wellbeing by boosting self-confidence and raising self-esteem helping you to build a sense of purpose helping you to connect with others . Even if you feel like you do not have enough time, or you may not need to learn new things, there are lots of different ways to bring learning into your life.​

Anxiety UK provides support for those who have been diagnosed with anxiety, plus anyone who is affected by stress and anxiety-based depression. The national organization have an expert team of medical advisors who work tirelessly to help and care for those around the country.​

BIPOLAR UK

Existing to help those living with manic depression or bipolar disorder, Bipolar UK want to help everyone live well and reach their potential — no matter what they are going through. Whether you are at university or are newly-diagnosed, they are here to help.​

CALM

(Campaign Against Living Miserably) is leading the movement against male suicide. As well as donating via their website, some of the ways you can make a difference is to raise money by fundraising, volunteering and spreading the word. We can all play our part to flatten the mental health curve.

MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION

Since 1949, The Mental Health Foundation have had a vision to create a world with good mental health for all. "Prevention is at the heart of what we do, because the best way to deal with a crisis is to prevent it from happening in the first place," the team says.As well as donating, some other ways you can support this charity include getting involved with peer programmed, helping with Mental Health Awareness Week and fundraising.​

MIND

Mind exist to empower anyone who has a mental health issue, no matter what age they are. As well as raising awareness and campaigning for better mental health, they also offer training for those who want to learn about how to tackle mental health challenges in their workplace.The team say: "We believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. We'll listen, give you support and advice, and fight your corner."​

SAMARITANS

Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at providing emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope or at risk of suicide throughout the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, often through its telephone helpline.​​
